Women In Leadership Project

Brief

Rasheed used an advocacy strategy, communication strategy, and social awareness campaign to raise awareness about the achievements of women in the public sector, and advocate for equal representation and access to leadership opportunities in the public sector. It also produced a report on women’s leadership potential and opportunities in the public sector. Through this project, an alliance of women activists and other institutions that support women was formed to drive gender mainstreaming and equality in Jordan.

Outcomes/Activities

1. A report was prepared under the title: “Legal review report- for the Civil Service by-law no. (32) For 2013 and its amendments and Hiring on leadership positions by-law for 2013 and its amendments, about promoting women opportunities for leadership positions in government sector”. The report was prepared by Dr. Abeer Dababneh

2. Testimonial videos, to break the stereotype towards the lack of competent women in the public sector

3. Rasheed’s produced five success story movies, telling the story of five different women from different sectors, and another movie was produced where all stories were combined. The videos were testimonial about their qualifications, impediments and success, which led for these women to be granted with the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence. In addition, the videos explained to the broad public and to working women that women are qualified for public office, and finally to younger women to inspire them for success.

4. the “Creative Youth” competition was organized to educate Jordanian youth about the importance of qualified women in senior management positions in the public sector and to express them in creative ways through photography and short films, reflecting the reality and challenges faced by women leaders in Jordan. More than 400 young people submitted their application in the competition “Creative Youth”.
